Foresters Chop Falcons in Slaats Cup Quarterfinals

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's hockey team had its journey end on Saturday night in the Slaats Cup Quarterfinals. The Foresters ended the Falcons' season with a 6-3 victory to take the series, 1-0-1.

The Foresters were able to capitalize on the power play to start the scoring early in the second period. Three minutes later the Red and White scored a short-handed breakaway goal.

The Falcons stopped the skid with a goal from freshman Makayla Spejcher (Green Bay, Wis.) over the shoulder of the netminder off a tip from Jillian Tabaka and a pass from junior Natalia Etter (Boveresse, Switzerland).

The Red and White took the lead again with a rebound into the net 15 minutes into the period. Four minutes later, they added to the lead with a loose puck in front of the net.

Lake Forest scored two power-play goals to open the third period.

A goal from sophomore Brooke Gibson (LaSalle, Ont.) ended the scoring with assists to Natalie Mackrell and sophomore Amanda Bauer (Waunakee, Wis.).

The Foresters held a 49-33 advantage in shots on Saturday.

Senior Annalina Van Hercke (Castle Rock, Colo.) posted 43 saves against the Foresters.

The Falcons end the year at 14-11-2.
