ADRIAN, Mich. – A record-breaking season ended on Saturday afternoon in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Slaats Cup Semifinals. The seventh-ranked Bulldogs of Adrian advanced to the finals with a 7-0 victory.
The Bulldogs struck first on Saturday halfway through the first period when they took the puck back on a clear attempt and scored from the right circle.
The Black and Gold added to the lead with a shot from the top of the zone.
Adrian scored again in the final minute of the first period on a rebound.
The Bulldogs scored a shorthanded goal in the second period.
Adrian added three more goals in the third period.
Top-seeded Sr. Norbert won the other semifinal and will host Adrian.
No. 7 Adrian held a 39-21 advantage in shots.
Senior Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) had 32 saves.
Junior Makayla Spejcher (Green Bay, Wis.) had six shots on Saturday to lead the flock.
Sophomore Mackaylan McGown (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) won 12 faceoffs.
The senior class finishes as the winningest class in program history with 59 victories with Cheree Peters (Vernon, B.C.), Savannah Hutchins (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), Olivia Kurtz (Plainfield, Ill.), Erika Graham (Brighton, Mich.), Amanda Bauer (Waunakee, Wis.), Natalie Mackrell (Florissant, Colo.), senior Lilly Casher (Grayslake, Ill.), Megan Vettraino (Howell, Mich.), Ashlyn Marshall (Vail, Colo.), Kami McCardle, and Brooke Gibson (LaSalle, Ontario).
