Bison Bust Women's Hockey Win Streak

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's hockey winning streak ended on Saturday afternoon against the Bison of Nichols. The 4-1 loss sends CUW to 9-4-1 on the season.

The Falcons controlled a majority of the possession in the first period and held a 26-5 advantage in shots when the Bison found the back of the net at the 13:03 mark of the first period.

The Green and White scored two more goals in the final two minutes of the second period to add to the advantage.

Freshman Jillian Tabaka (Maplewood, Minn.) put the Falcons on the score sheet in the third period when she stole the puck and staked down the ice on a breakaway, and found the back of the net.

The Bison responded with a goal of their own 64 seconds later.

The Falcons kept Victoria Bakopanos busy all afternoon and the sophomore netminder finished with 53 saves.

Sophomore Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) had 17 saves in her first loss of the season.

CUW held an 88-34 advantage in shots on Saturday. Senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) led all players with 14 shots.

The Blue and White also held a commanding advantage in faceoffs at 49-18. Jillian Tabaka won 20 of her 26 faceoffs.

The Falcons look to bounce back on Friday in the Border Battle at Lake Forest.
