Women's Hockey Sweeps Trine with Another Shutout

ANGOLA, Ind. – The CUW women's hockey team brought out the brooms on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons kept the Thunder off the scoreboard for the second-straight day with a 1-0 victory to improve to 4-1-1 on the year and 2-0-0 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.

Defense reigned supreme with neither team finding the back of the net in the first two periods.

Sophomore Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) tipped in a rebound off a shot from senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) with freshman Jillian Tabaka (Maplewood, Minn.) adding the secondary assist.

For the second-straight contest, senior Annalina Van Hercke (Castle Rock, Colo.) posted a shutout with 20 saves.

CWU held a 37-20 advantage in shots. Sophomore Brooke Gibson (LaSalle, Ont.), Jillian Tabaka, freshman Charlotte Toor (Hartland, Mich.) and senior Bela Noyle (Baltimore, Md.) all had five shots. Gibson also won 10 of her 16 faceoffs.

The Falcons look to build to their winning streak on Friday against Marian.
