No. 11 Adrian rallies to down CUW

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons were able to jump on the No.11-ranked Bulldogs of Adrian early, but were not able to hold on. The Bulldogs walked away with a 6-3 victory to send CUW to 11-10-2 on the year and 7-9-2 in the NCHA.

The Falcons struck early on Saturday with sophomore Brandon MacKinnon (Etobicoke, Ont.) lighting the lamp at the 2:44 mark with a shot in front of the net after senior Jim Pearson (Ashton, Ont.) fed the pass from behind the net off a pass from sophomore Jacob Palmerio (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.).

The Blue and White struck again 14 seconds later when junior Nick Guiney (Victoria, B.C.) threw the puck into an empty net off a pass from senior Dante Hahn (Victoria, B.C.). Senior Mac Ferner (Vernon, B.C.) had the secondary assist.

The Bulldogs bit back with three goals to close the first period.

Dante Hahn scored on the power play in the second period on a rebound off a shot from junior Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alta.).Junior Nick Guerra (Victoria, B.C.) also added an assist on the play.

The Black and Gold scored the final three goals, including one empty-net goal to close the game.

Sophomore Erik Schuette (Olathe, Kan.) had 26 saves on the day.

Both teams finished with 32 shots. Braydon Barker led CUW with seven shots.

CUW closes the regular season next weekend against Lake Forest. The Falcons were eliminated with Aurora's tie on Saturday.
