Spartans sink Men’s Hockey

GENEVA, Ill. – The Spartans handed CUW its first loss of the year in the NCHA on Friday. The Falcons fell to the Spartans, 5-1, to move to 3-2 on the year and to 2-1 in the NCHA.

The Spartans jumped on CUW early with three first-period goals.

The Falcons wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the second period. Only 38 seconds in, sophomore Cory Dennis (Madison, Wis.) scored on the power play, with senior Josh Adkins (Victoria, B.C.) and sophomore Brandon MacKinnon (Etobicoke, Ont.) adding the assists.

Aurora added to the lead 40 seconds later.

The Spartans added another goal in the third period to win, 5-1.

Aurora held a 30-29 shots advantage on Friday afternoon.

Senior Dante Hahn (Victoria, B.C.) led the Falcons with seven shots.

Sophomore Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) finished the day with 25 saves.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
