MSOE takes advantage of CUW penalties

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW winning streak came to an end on Saturday with a 4-1 loss to MSOE. The loss sends CUW to 11-6-2 and to 7-5-2 in the NCHA. MSOE retained the Lake Michigan Cup with a 2-1 shootout victory.

The Raiders struck first in the second period on a shot from David Marabella.

Sophomore Luc Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) tied the game at one at the 17:21 mark of the second period off passes from freshman Brandon Picard (Montreal, Que.)and junior Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alta.).

MSOE responded with three third period goals with two on the power play and a third as a power play expired.

To break the series tie, the Raiders walked away with a 2-1 shootout victory. Sophomore Peter Kapak (Red Deer, Alta.) struck first, but MSOE made the next two shots to win the cup.

Sophomore Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) had 30 saves on the night.

CUW will travel to Marian on Thursday.
