Falcons freeze Lawrence and rewrite record book

APPLETON, Wis. – Not only did the Falcons secure two-key points in the tight NCHA standings with a 3-0 victory at Lawrence, sophomore Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) broke multiple school records on Friday night. The victory raises the Falcons to 9-5-2 and to 5-4-2 in the NCHA standings.

"Our team came out tonight and played a solid game from start to finish," said head coach Jasen Wise. "Communication was the key for us and the boys never let off the gas. Lawrence's goalie made a couple of outstanding saves, but we never let it get in our heads. A 200-foot empty net goal from the captain in his first game back was sight to see as well."

Freshman Brandon Picard (Montreal, Que.) lit the lamp in the first period to start the scoring. Junior Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alta.) assisted on the goal.

The assist for Barker was his 19th of the season and broke his own school record for assists in a single season.

Brandon Picard struck again late in the first period off a pass from Luc Kreuser.

Defense reigned supreme in the second period, with neither team able to find the back of the net. Bo Didur passed Jake Hebda for the career saves record at Concordia Wisconsin.

Senior Mac Ferner (Vernon, B.C.) closed the scoring late in the third period on a cross-ice empty net shot from the opposite goal line, after senior Jim Pearson (Ashton, Ont.) won the faceoff.

Head coach Jasen Wise recorded his 200th career victory with the 3-0 victory. He has earned 81 victories at CUW and had 119 at Marian.

Bo Didur stopped all 31 shots he faced in the victory to secure the school record for shut outs.

The Falcons outshot Lawrence on Friday, 54-31.

The Blue and White will host the Vikings on Saturday night on Pink the Rink Night.
