Maya Hielscher Competes at NCAA Championships

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Maya Hielscher was one of a select few student-athletes to have the privilege to compete at the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday.

The junior from Macomb, Michigan, Maya Hielscher competed in the javelin competition on Thursday morning.

Hielscher finished the competition in 22nd place.

She opened the competition with a foul on the first throw.

Her best mark of the day came on her second throw which reached 35.72 meters.

She then followed that up with a throw of 33.53 meters.

The Michigander claimed a spot in the field of 22 student-athletes with the 20th-best mark in NCAA Division III at 40.81 meters. She set that mark at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 3. She claimed a first-place finish with the mark.
