
Falcons Compete at Whitewater
WHITEWATER, Wis. – The CUW women's track and field took fifth at the Leonard "Squig" Converse Invitational with 48 points.
In the 200-meter dash, the Falcons were led by Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.), who recorded a time of 27.81 and took 18th place. Behind Zahorik was senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.), who finished 22nd at 27.95 seconds. Freshman Emma Eilertson (Mukwonago, Wis.) also had a top-25 finish with a time of 28.01 seconds.
Zahorik also led the Blue and White in the 400-meter run as she took 29th at 1:09.03. Two spots behind her was sophomore Amber Fietzer (Manawa, Wis.), who had a time of 1:10.05.
Sophomore Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) stood out in the 800-meter run at 2:27.69. Other notable finishes from the Falcons included Olivia Ebel (Mt. Clemens, Mich.), who took 17th with a time of 2:35.07, and freshman Kylee Camble (Cudahy, Wis.) with a time of 2:38.38 for 22nd place.
Meanwhile, in the mile, sophomore Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) claimed tenth place for her time of 5:35.01.
The distance squad continued their excellent season as the Falcons claimed the top three spots.
Freshman Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) claimed the first position with a time of 18:30.38, while senior Anessa Yim (Spokane, Wash.) took second, and sophomore Ainara Sainz de Rosas (Madrid, Spain) crossed the finish line with times of 18:42.37 and 19:13.94 respectively. Also in the event was sophomore Abby Poehlman (Hubertus, Wis.), who finished at 19:25.14, good for fifth place.
Emma Eilertson continued to impress in her rookie campaign, taking first in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters.
Sophomore Carly Greisemer (Slinger, Wis.) took 12th in the pole vault at a height of 3.11 meters.
Sabrina Moore continued her day at the long jump, with a distance of 4.59 meters. Meanwhile, in the triple jump, sophomore Kate Kotula (Wyomissing, Pa.) led the Blue and White with a mark of 10.22 meters.
Finally, in the weight throw, senior Morgan Huntley (Hillsboro, Wis.) had a mark of 12.35 meters, good for 26th place.
The Falcons look ahead to their next competition, on Feb. 3rd at the Wisconsin Stevens Point Big Dawg Invite.
