Falcons Take Third at Parkside Classic

KENOSHA, Wis. - The CUW women's track and field took third at the Parkside Classic meet with 142 points, while host school UW-Parkside totaled 171 points to claim first place.

The point breakdown for the Falcons included 29 from the sprints, 16 from the hurdles, 48 from the distance events, and 49 from the jumping events.

Seniors Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) and Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.) combed for nine team points in the 55-meter dash. Moore led the flock in the event, with a time of 7.51, while Zahorik followed Moore with a time of 7.52.

The 200-meter dash, however, would see Zahorik claim first, with a time of 26.64 seconds, and Moore take fourth with a time of 27.43. Together, Jenna Zahorik and Sabrina Moore totaled 24 points in the sprinting events alone.

Freshman Hailey Foster (Pewaukee, Wis.) and sophomore Amber Feitzer (Manawa, Wis.) ran times of 1:08.20 and 1:08.68 in the 400-meter dash, which locked up five team points for the Falcons.

The 800-meter run saw four Falcons secure points as sophomore Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) scored four points with a fifth-place finish with a time of 2:29.87. Behind Arvis was freshman Olivia Ebel (Mt. Clemens, Mich.), take sixth with a time of 2:30.51. Sophomore Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) and freshman Kylee Camble (Cudahy, Wis.) took seventh and eighth, respectively, combining for three team points.

In the one-mile event, freshman Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) captured eight team points with her second-place finish at 5:19.35. In fourth place was Senior Anessa Yim (Spokane, Wash.), who took five team points with a time of 5:23.03.

CUW's distance squad continued their excellent day, totaling 25 points in the 3,000-meter dash, as sophomore Abby Poehlman (Hubertus, Wis.) took gold in the event with a time of 11:03.01. Meanwhile, senior Alicia Kawa (Medford, Wis.) took second, registering a time of 11:03.35. Senior Mary Grace Cleinmark (Danvers, Ill.) scored four team points for her fifth-place finish at a time of 11:38.58. In sixth was freshman Abigail Lange (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.), who finished at 12:07.89, good for three team points.

In the 55-meter hurdles, junior Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.) and freshman Emma Eilertson (Mukwonago, Wis.) secured 16 points for the Blue and White, as Heilscher ran an 8.64, taking first place. Meanwhile, Eilertson secured third with a time of 9.01 seconds.

The duo of Heilscher and Eilertson would also find success in the high jump, combining for nine team points, as Hielscher locked up fourth place with a height of 1.52 meters, while Eilertson secured fifth, also clearing a height of 1.52 meters.

Amber Fietzer added to her successful day in the jumping pit, scoring six team points in the triple jump with a distance of 9.55 meters in her first attempt. Also scoring points for CUW in the triple jump was freshman Lorin Laney (Columbus, Ohio), who leaped a distance of 9.43 meters for fourth place and five team points.

In the long jump, Sabrina Moore claimed eight team points with a leap of 5.14 meters in her third attempt to take third place. On her final attempt of the day, freshman Nina Alft (Kimberly, Wis.) recorded a distance of 4.06 meters for an eighth-place finish, securing one team point.

The pole-vault trio of sophomore Carly Griesemer (Slinger, Wis.), freshman Caitlyn Weitzel (Fallston, Md.), and freshman Kaitlyn Pankau (West Bend, Wis.) totaled 18 points on the day as Griesemer took second in the event with a height of 3.21 meters. At the same time, Weitzel cleared a height of 2.91 meters, while Pankau had a mark of 2.46 meters.

Meanwhile, Morgan Huntley (Hillsboro, Wis.) led the Falcons in both the weight throw and shot put, as she recorded a mark of 10.10 meters in the shot put and 11.90 meters in the weight throw.

Next weekend, the Falcons will travel north to UW-Stevens Point to compete in the NACC Indoor Championships on Feb. 23rd and Feb. 24th, with competition starting at 9 a.m. on both days.
