Maya Hielscher Competed at La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's track & field team had Maya Hielscher compete at the Wisconsin – La Crosse Eagle Open on Friday afternoon.

A junior from Macomb, Michigan, Maya Hielscher tried to secure one of the final spots in the NCAA Division III Championships in the javelin competition.

Hielscher posted her best mark on her first throw of the day at 38.49 meters. She then had marks of 37.64, 37.15, 36.79, 35.81 and 37.00.

The Michigan native has the 20th-best mark in NCAA Division III at 40.81 meters. She set that mark at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 3. She claimed a first-place finish with the mark.

The top-22 marks in the nation will qualify for the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

She will compete once more at the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier on Wednesday, May 15, where she hopes to lock up a ticket to South Carolina.
