Women's Track & Field Wins at WLC Invite

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's track & field team opened the 2024 outdoor season in winning fashion on Thursday. The Falcons won the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational title with 131 points. MSOE finished in second place at 125 points.

The Falcons littered the top-10 standings in the 800-meter run on Thursday. Sophomore Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) was the individual champion at 2:29.10. Freshman Kylee Camble (Cudahy, Wis.) collected third place at 2:25.20, sophomore Elizabeth Van Rixel (Athens, Wis.) was in eighth place at 2:45.65 and freshman Alexandra Svora (North Riverside, Ill.) was 10th at 2:50.33.

Junior Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.) was the champion in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.98. Freshman Emma Eilertson (Mukwonago, Wis.) was the silver medalist at 17.10 and freshman Lorin Laney (Columbus, Ohio) was fourth at 19.02. Hielscher also won the javelin competition with a mark of 38.56 meters.

Concordia claimed the 4x100 meter title on Thursday with the team of Maya Hielscher, senior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.), Emma Eilertson and senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) finishing at 49.91.

The pole vault crown went to sophomore Carly Griesemer (Slinger, Wis.) at 3.05 meters and freshman Kaitlyn Pankau (West Bend, Wis.) was fifth at 2.30 meters.

The Falcons had two individuals qualify for the 100-meter dash finals. Jenna Zahorik finished in second place and broke the school record at 12.61. Sabrina Moore was in fifth place at 13.41.

Emma Eilertson was second in the high jump at 1.50 meters.

The Falcons soared in the 200-meter dash with Jenna Zahorik in second place at 26.23 and Sabrina Moore in fourth place at 27.68.

In the long jump pit, Maya Hielschler was second at 5.13 meters. Sabrina Moore secured seventh place at 4.87 meters.

The triple jump saw Lorin Laney place third at 9.64 meters with sophomore Amber Fietzer (Manawa, Wis.) in seventh place at 8.80 meters.

Freshman Abigail Lange (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) led the Falcons in the 1500-meter run in seventh place at 5:23.75, just ahead of senior MaryGrace Cleinmark (Danvers, Ill.) in eighth place at 5:24.86.

The discus throw saw sophomore Kailey Ramaker (Cedarburg, Wis.) record a mark of 32.70 meters in seventh place.

Freshman Paige Schreiber (Dousman, Wis.) led the flock in the shot put in eighth place at 10.39 meters.

Senior Morgan Huntley (Hillsboro, Wis.) led CUW in the hammer throw in 13th place at 33.15 meters.

The Falcons will have some individuals race at WashU on Friday.
