Women’s Hockey defeated by UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - In the first game of their final road trip of the season, the Concordia University Wisconsin women's hockey team came up short against UW-Stevens Point, losing 2-1 on Saturday night inside Ice Hawks Arena.

CUW (7-14-3, 5-12-2 NCHA) got a first period goal from senior Marie Melton (Prior Lake, Minn.) as well as 15 saves from freshman goalie Jennifer DeGeorge (Waukesha, Wis.), but it wasn't enough as the Pointers emerged victorious.

The Falcons' loss, coupled with UW-Eau Claire's 5-0 victory over Finlandia University, eliminated CUW from a spot in the NCHA O'Brien Cup Playoffs.

Stevens Point (11-11-2, 10-8-1 NCHA) only managed 17 shots on goal but got all they would need off goals from Allie Tanzer and Erin Marvin.

The two teams will meet again in Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon, when they'll face off at 2:30 pm.
