Women's Hockey earns split on Minnesota road swing

WINONA, Minn. - Concordia University Wisconsin got off to a 3-0 lead on the way to a satisfying 4-2 road win over St. Mary's University (Minn.) Saturday afternoon for a split of its Minnesota road swing.

Falcons freshman Erin Grant (Allen Park, Mich.), junior Sara Cole (Plymouth, Minn.), and senior Muriel McIntyre (Penticton, British Columbia, Canada) each lit the lamp during the first 26 minutes of play before the Cardinals ended the second period with a pair of tallies.

Head coach Jim Ingman's team received an insurance score early in the third period and then held on for the victory.

"We did a good job of rebounding from yesterday's performance," Ingman said. "Special teams and defense were the key for us. Three of our goals were scored by defensemen, and our net-minding in the final period was exceptional."

Shots were even at 30 apiece, but CUW goalie Andrea Mizanskey (freshman, Palos Heights, Ill.) managed 13 of her 28 saves in the final twenty minutes to earn her first career victory.

The busy Falcons (2-1-0) host Lake Forest on Tuesday at 7:00pm. at the Ozaukee Ice Center and then welcome Finlandia on Friday for a 7:00pm matchup.
