Women’s Hockey falls at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - After battling for a hard-fought 3-2 victory on Saturday night, the Concordia University Wisconsin women's hockey team was defeated by NCHA foe Adrian College 7-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Arrington Ice Arena.

The Falcons (7-6-1, 5-4-0 NCHA) were undone by Adrian's four power play goals, along with a five-point performance from Bulldog forward Olivia Rork.

CUW got goals from senior Bradi Jonasson (Bloomington, Minn.) and freshman Samantha Reiter (Stillwater, Minn.), but it wasn't enough as Adrian's offensive attack was clicking on all cylinders.

The Bulldogs (6-8-2, 4-6-2 NCHA) led 2-0 at the first intermission, after goals from Rork and Hannah McGowan got Adrian out to the early advantage.

Jonasson then got the Falcons on the board midway through the second period, finishing off assists from fellow seniors Hilary Christiansen (Eagan, Minn.) and Alyssa Issackson (Marshall, Minn.).

With the assist, Christiansen notched her 50th career helper and tied the school record for career assists.

But it was all Adrian after that, as the Bulldogs scored five straight goals, including three in the third period, to put the game beyond doubt.

Reiter was able to grab a couple of consolation tallies for the Falcons late in the third period, scoring an unassisted goal with just over five minutes to play, before scoring again two minutes later off assists from freshman Elizabeth Otto (Stillwater, Minn.) and Samantha Meuwissen (Chanhassen, Minn.).

The Falcons now return home for a week of practice, before welcoming University of Wisconsin-Superior to the Ozaukee Ice Center next weekend.
