Gina Followell Named Female Athlete of the Year

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin Athletics Department has announced Gina Followell of the softball program as the 2020-21 Female Athlete of the Year Award recipient.

A junior from Romeoville, Illinois, Gina Followell was an NFCA All-American Second Team selection in 2021. She also captured NFCA All-Region honors, All-NACC honors and was named the NACC North Division Pitcher of the Year. In April, Followell was named the Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week.  

On the year, she posted a 14-3 record and had 191 strikeouts to her name. She has also posted a 1.11 earned-run average. The Illinois native also had four no-hit performances in 2021 and had a perfect game. Her earned-run average, no-hit performances and strikeouts are program records for a single season.
