Followell Throws Another No Hitter; Softball Sweeps Alverno

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – For the third-time this week, junior Gina Followell did not allow a hit. The Falcons left Milwaukee with a pair of 12-0 and 9-1 victories to improve to 20-4 and remain the only unbeaten team in the NACC at 10-0.

The Romeoville, Illinois, native once against shined in the circle in game one for the Falcons on Saturday. Gina Followell struck out 14 of the possible 15 batters in game one. The lone groundout went to Followell on a bunt attempt.

Senior Jenna Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) started the scoring with a single through the right side of the infield in the first inning to score Kelsey Bollon and Sydney Erdmann

Sophomore Sydney Erdmann (Geneva, Ill.) struck in the second inning on a single down the right-field line to secure sophomore Ashley Zappa (Zion, Ill.).

Junior Taylor Kuske (Kaukauna, Wis.) sent the ball out of the park with a two-run blast that scored freshman Emily Walters (Waupun, Wis.).

Kuske was not done and landed a double into the gap in left field sending in senior Kelsey Bollon (Orangeville, Wis.) and freshman Madison Wheat (Cowerta, Wis.).

Sophomore Claudia Utz (Lockport, Ill.) did more than catch her third no-hit performance of the week, she popped the ball out of the park with a shot to center field to score Kuske.

The Falcons put the cherry on top of the victory with three more runs in the fifth inning.

Freshman Jewel Waupekenay (Keshena, Wis.) had a sacrifice fly to get sophomore Abby Kerrins (Cullom, Ill.) across home plate.

Junior Krystal Cortes (Aurora, Ill.) had a single to left field that scored Lexi Bridenhagen.

Freshman Nicole Grove (Sussex, Wis.) drove in the final run on a bases-loaded walk to score junior Kelsey Powers (Westfield, Ind.).

Jenna Pozezinski led the flock with three hits.

If the Inferno was not already extinguished after game one, they were after the second.

Sydney Erdmann took advantage of a fielding error to strike first in the first.

The lone Alverno run came in the first inning.

Kelsey Bollon drew a bases-loaded walk in the second inning to send junior Alyssa Vilkoski (Greenfield, Wis.) across home plate.

CUW added another run in the fourth inning off the bat of Madison Wheat with a two-run home run to score Sydney Erdmann.

The Falcons blew the doors off the game in the fifth inning. Taylor Kuske stole third base and then decided to head home.

A shot from Alyssa Vilkoski crossed Claudia Utz across home plate.

Madison Wheat popped a single into right field to let Krystal Cortes cross home plate.

Erdmann scored on a muffed throw and Wheat scored on a single from Bollon.

Alyssa Vilkoski earned her fourth victory of the season with an eight-strikeout performance and only allowed three hits.

Madison Wheat led the game with three hits on Saturday.

The two teams will play again on Sunday at Concordia.
