Softball sweeps NACC North Weekly honors

MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced its Student-Athletes of the Week for softball on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons swept the NACC North weekly honors after sweeping Marian and Alverno.

A junior from Romeoville, Illinois, Gina Followell is claiming the NACC Pitcher of the Week honor for the second-straight week and for the third time in her career.

Followell earned the crown after posting a phenomenal week. The Illinois native threw four-straight no-hit performance, with victories over Marian and Alverno. She opened the week with a program-record 18 strikeouts in a 5-0 victory over Marian in her first no-hit performance of the season. She followed that up with a perfect game at Marian on Wednesday with 12 strikeouts. On Saturday, she threw 14 strikeouts in no-hit effort in the circle in the 12-0 victory. She finished the weekend with another no-hit effort with 12 strikeouts in a 12-0 victory over the Inferno.

A junior from Kaukauna, Wisconsin, Taylor Kuske is being honored as the NACC Position Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Kuske finished the week hitting .480 (12-of-25) with two doubles, two home runs, two stolen bases, eight RBIs, and 11 runs scored while helping lead CUW to an 8-0 week. She also drew two walks and was hit by a pitch en route to a .517 on-base percentage while also racking up a .800 slugging percentage. The Wisconsin native blasted two home runs during the week and had four multi-hit games.

The Falcons return to battle on Saturday in a battle of the top-two teams in the NACC North Division. MSOE heads into the contests ranked 13th in the nation.
