The Falcons hand Aurora its first loss

MEQUON, Wis. - It has been a day for the Spartans and Falcons.

Aurora and the Blue and White kept the first game of the doubleheader scoreless throughout 10 innings.

In the 11th inning, the Spartans were able to slip past the Falcons with two runs in to seal the win for the first game.

Aurora's Hannah Tomasko pitched all 11 innings, with 189 pitches.

Falcons junior Nicki Becker (Brodhead, Wis.) pitched seven innings and finished with five strikeouts.

Junior Gina Followell (Romeoville, Ill.) was able to finish the last four innings for the Falcons with 33 strikes on 42 pitches.

The first game concluded in two hours and 39 minutes.

Concordia came out swinging in game two

Concordia would come out with fire on this chilly evening with a run scored by Sophomore Sydney Erdmann (Geneva, Ill.) in the bottom of the first on a wild pitch.

Junior Taylor Kuske (Kaukauna, Wis.) would join in on the fun in the bottom of the second with a single up the middle to let Erdmann score again. The Falcons would head into the third with a 2-0 lead.

Kuske would strike again in the bottom of the fourth by a fielder's choice and send in freshman Madison Wheat (Coweta, Okla.) and sophomore Ashley Zappa (Zion, Ill.).

The Spartans added two runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Darkness fell upon Catalyst Park and Aurora's unbeaten season and the Falcons took game two, 4-2.

Junior Alyssa Vikoski (Greenfield, Wis.) earned the victory with four innings pitched.  

Followell would finish the fifth inning with 11 strikes.

The Falcons will play another double header at Wisconsin Lutheran College on April 3, starting at 12 PM.
