Softball Secures Five All-NACC North Division Selections

MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced its all-conference teams for softball on Friday afternoon. The Falcons landed five All-NACC North Division selections in Nicki Becker, Kelsey Bollon, Sydney Erdmann, Gina Followell and Claudia Utz. CUW also had one honorable mention honoree in Madison Wheat.

Gina Followell

A junior from Romeoville, Illinois, Gina Followell was crowned the NACC North Division Pitcher of the Year and is claiming All-NACC honors for the second time in her career. In NACC play, Followell posted an earned-run average of 0.44. She earned nine victories in the circle and finished with 120 strikeouts. She threw four no-hit performances, including one perfect game.

Nicki Becker

A junior from Brodhead, Wisconsin, Nicki Becker is making her first appearance on an All-NACC team. Becker silenced NACC bats again in 2021 and finished NACC play with seven victories. She finished conference play with an earned run average of 1.75 and 49 strikeouts.

Kelsey Bollon

A senior from Orangeville, Illinois, Kelsey Bollon is earning her first All-NACC honor this season. Bollon posted an amazing season at the plate with a .443 batting average with 27 hits, eight doubles, two triples, one home run, 13 RBI, eight walks and two stolen bases.

Sydney Erdmann

A sophomore from Geneva, Illinois, Sydney Erdmann is grabbing her first All-NACC selection in 2021. Erdmann led the flock with 33 hits in NACC play, where she hit a blistering .465 on the year. Erdmann collected four doubles, one triple, 10 RBI, four walks and 18 stolen bases.

Claudia Utz

A sophomore from Lockport, Illinois, Claudia Utz is named to her first All-NACC team in 2021. Utz controlled home plate as a batter and catcher for the Falcons in 2021. She hit .426 against the NACC and had 23 hits, with three doubles, one triple and four home runs. Utz also added 16 RBI and four stolen bases. Behind the plate, she only had one stolen base against her.

Madison Wheat

A freshman from Cowerta, Oklahoma, Madison Wheat had quite the impact in her collegiate debut. In 2021 she hit 20 hits, with four doubles and two home runs. She finished with 17 RBI and also added seven stolen bases.

Steve Crook

In his 22nd season as the head coach, Steve Crook is earning his second NACC Coach of the Year honor with his first coming in 2019. He was also the Lake Michigan Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2004.

The Falcons won the NACC North Division title with an 18-2 record.
