Liszka, Sobrilsky power Softball to NACC Tournament win over DU

MILWAUKEE – Junior Jessica Liszka and freshman Carly Sobrilsky had big offensive games in helping the Concordia University Wisconsin Softball team open the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 10-6 win over Dominican University.

Liszka (Lindenhurst, Ill.), who got the party started with a solo home run in the top of the first, finished the game 4-for-5 with four runs scored. She was a triple away from the cycle. Sobrilsky (Brookfield, Wis.) added three hits, including a three-run home run in the third inning. Sobrilsky finished the game with four RBIs.

Senior Jamie Schuh (Freedom, Wis.) turned in a quality start for the Falcons, pitching six innings and allowing one earned run. She struck out three batters and allowed freshman Melissa Perkins (Park Forest, Ill.) to come on for the final three outs in the seventh.

The Falcons scored three runs each in the third and sixth innings and added two in the seventh. Dominican, which trailed 5-0 after 3.5 innings, scored four in the fourth to cut the Falcons lead to 5-4. The Falcons went up four after the top of the sixth, before DU cut the lead to two.

Freshman Jennifer Reicher (Kewaskum, Wis.) gave the Falcons insurance in the top of the seventh with a two-run single, plating Liszka and sophomore Marisa Hahn (Northville, Mich.).

The Falcons finished the game with 10 hits and took advantage of five DU miscues. Freshman Alexis Holsten (Oshkosh, Wis.) doubled and recorded two hits for CUW, while senior Mariah Giesseman (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) scored two runs.

DU was paced by Ashley Rea with two hits as the Stars managed just four total for the game. Catherine Conte had a two-RBI double in the fourth inning for the Stars.
