Falcons Flex on Edgewood

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's soccer team secured three key points in the NACC standings with a 3-0 victory against Edgewood. The victory propels CUW to 7-7-1 on the year and to 5-4-1 in NACC play at 16 points.

The Falcons jumped on the Eagles early in the first half when junior Nick Hummel (Green Bay, Wis.) headed in a pass from himself off a feed from senior Tyler Salvador (Lindenhurst, Ill.) in the seventh minute.

The Blue and White took advantage of a two-on-one advantage in the 35th minute when Nick Hummel found junior Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.) right in front of the net, where Cuellar tucked away the ball into the back of the net.

Junior Joshua Shull (Evansville, Ind.) scored the final goal of the match in the 79th minute after he peppered the Edgewood net with a flurry of shots.

Junior Mattson Wick (New Berlin, Wis.) posted his second shutout of the season with four saves in the victory.

The Blue and White held a 36-13 advantage in shots on Wednesday night. Junior Gilberto Gomez (Zion, Ill.) led all players with six shots.

The Falcons will continue the homestand on Saturday against Concordia Chicago.
