Falcons Overwhelm Aurora in NACC Opener

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons men's soccer team showed off in their 4-2 victory over the Spartans. 

The Spartans struck first in the ninth minute.  The Falcons scored an equalizer in the 14th minute off the head of senior Will King (Maidenhead, G.B.) off an assist from junior Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.). 

The Falcons never looked back scoring another goal in the 24th minute off the foot of Ivan Cuellar with an assist from freshman Sam Butterfield (St. Louis, Mo.). 

The winning goal came in the 27th minute off a feed from Ivan Cuellar to the foot of junior Gilberto Gomez (Zion, Ill.). 

The Spartans would score their second goal in the 40th minute, but that was short-lived.  Senior Jacob Stemper (Hartland, Wis.) blew a free kick past the Spartan goalkeeper to put the Falcons up 4-2 going into the half. 

It was a defensive standoff in the second half seeing no goals for either team. 

The Falcons edged out the Spartans in shots as well as shots on goal seeing 17-16 and 9-4 lines. 

Junior goalkeeper Mattson Wick (New Berlin, Wis.) tallied two saves in his 90 minutes in goal. 

The Falcons return to action on the 18th as they take on Benedictine in Illinois.
