Dominican Defeats Men's Soccer

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's soccer team fell Saturday to the Stars of Dominican University, 3-1. The loss sends the Falcons' overall record to 5-9-2, while their conference record drops to 3-6-2.

After the first 45 minutes of play, neither team found the back, bringing the game to a nil-nil stalemate at the half.

The Stars were first to score to scratch a goal as they found the back of the net in the 52nd minute to take the 1-0 lead early in the second half.

Just minutes later, Dominican added to their lead in the 55th minute and 62nd minute to take a convincing 3-0 lead.

Determined not to go away, the Falcons mounted a response in the 66th minute as senior Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.) delivered the ball to senior Alishan Sharipov (Krasnodar, Russia), who fired a shot past the Dominican keeper to cut the lead to 3-1.

Ultimately, the Blue and White comeback effort came up short, as the Stars left the field with the 3-1.

Senior Manuel Brito (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a team-high two shots on goal, while the sophomore goalkeeper Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) tallied nine saves.

The Falcons will hit the pitch and close the regular season at Lakeland on Wednesday, Oct. 25th , at 7 p.m.
