Falcons Bounce Back at Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. – The CUW men's soccer team got back in the win column on Saturday night with a 4-1 victory at Lawrence to improve to 2-2-0 on the young season.

Senior Jacob Stemper (Hartland, Wis.) drew first blood on Saturday with a goal in the 21st minute off a pass from junior Gilberto Gomez (Zion, Ill.).

Junior Nick Hummel (Green Bay, Wis.) found the back of the net 17 minutes later with an assist to sophomore Matthew Alcala (Gurnee, Ill.).

Junior Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.) wasted no time starting the second-half scoring with a goal 19 seconds into the frame off an assist to senior Alex Labastida (Chicago, Ill.).

Freshman Sam Butterfield (St. Louis, Mo.) secured the final goal of the night off the foot of Jacob Stemper in the 71st minute.

Junior Mattson Wick (New Berlin, Wis.) earned the victory with five saves against the Vikings.

CUW finished with 16 shots, to the Vikings' 10 shots. Ivan Cuellar led the flock with seven.

The Blue and White finally open the home portion of the schedule on Wednesday in the NACC opener against Aurora.
