MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's soccer team hosted Elmhurst in the final non-conference match of the year on Wednesday evening. The Bluejays flew away with a 3-0 victory to send the Falcons to 4-9-2 on the season.
The Bluejays struck first on Wednesday with a goal on a rebound in front of the net in the 10th minute.
The Falcons responded four minutes later with shots from junior Carson Kelly (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and senior Remy Stafford (Chicago, Wis.), but could not find the back of the net.
Elmhurst added to the lead off of a cross in the 40th minute.
The 42nd minute saw freshman Jacob Wehage (Johnstown, Colo.) toss a shot on net, but the goalkeeper made the save to give Elmhurst a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Falcons attacked the Elmhurst net in the first 10 minutes of the second half with a shot that was saved off the boot of senior Carlos Valdivia (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and a minute later freshman Elias Ramon (Huntley, Ill.) rang the ball off the crossbar.
Elmhurst added the third goal in the 62nd minute.
Senior Alishan Sharipov (Krasnodar, Russia) and senior Sam Butterfield (St. Louis, Mo.) had shots in the 65th and 70th minute but the Bluejays somehow kept the ball out of the net.
Elmhurst held a 24-11 advantage in shots on Wednesday.
Senior Alexis Diaz (Gurnee, Ill.) finished the match with 10 saves.
Alishan Sharipov led the flock with three shots.
The Falcons return to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play on Saturday at Dominican.
