Falcons Derailed by Raiders

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW baseball team hosted the Raiders of MSOE to cap off their eight-game homestand at Kapco Park.

MSOE got the first game off the ground with four runs in the top of the fifth inning.

The Blue and White responded with three of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning off the bats of junior Cole Aguirre (Chino Hills, Calif.) with a 2 RBI double that scored the Janesville duo of seniors Johannes Haakenson and Sam Beers as well as an RBI single from senior Daniel Hahn (Cudahy, Wis.) that scored Aguirre.

It was all MSOE the rest of the way with four more runs in the top of the seventh to end the game at 8-3 in the full nine innings.

MSOE got game two started early with seven runs in the first four and a half innings before the Falcons could answer back with a two-run inning.

Aguirre batted in senior Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.) with a double to left-center field. Aguirre then scored on a passed ball later in the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Johnson sent a bomb out of the park for his first home run of the season to cut further into the large MSOE lead.

The top of the eighth saw two more Raider runs to put the game out of the reach of the Falcons.

Senior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) blooped an RBI single to shortstop to score Hahn for the final Falcon run of the series.

The Raiders took the series with game scores of 8-3 and 9-4.

Aguirre led the day with a trio of Falcon RBIs.

Junior Tyler Drezek (West Allis, Wis.) mowed down batters with eight strikeouts of his 22 batters faced in his 4.2 innings pitched. Drezek left in the middle of the fifth inning with an injury. Of his 77 pitches, 61 were for strikes.

The Falcons look to snap back against Rockford on Sunday.
