No. 20 Stevens Point Sinks Baseball

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW baseball team hosted the 20th-ranked Pointers of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Tuesday afternoon. The Pointers took the non-conference matchup with a 7-1 victory to improve to 14-2 and send CUW to 8-11.

The Pointers struck first with a run in the second inning.

The lone Concordia run came in the second inning when junior Cole Aguirre (Chino Hills, Calif.) notched a single to right field to score senior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.).

UWSP added two unearned runs in the fourth inning and one run in the fifth inning.

The Pointers earned some separation in the ninth inning with a three-run home run.

Freshman Luke Bruckner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) had a strong start with six innings and five strikeouts. He did not allow a walk and held the top-20 team to two earned runs.

Cole Aguirre had two of the six hits for Concordia.

The Falcons close the eight-game homestand with a doubleheader against MSOE on Saturday.
