Coachman signs professional hockey contract with Watertown Wolves

MEQUON, Wis. – Justin Coachman became the first Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey player to ink a professional contract when he signed with the Watertown Wolves of the Federal Hockey league. Coachman will be in the lineup for the Wolves Friday night in his professional debut.

Coachman had this to say on his professional signing: "I just want to say thank you to my coaches Jasen Wise and Jimmy Jensen for working with me this year and years prior and giving me a chance that has helped me move on in my hockey career. Also, thank you to the great group of guys in the locker room. I am honored to have been a part of this family for the past four years. Playing at Concordia is something I will always be proud of and is a huge reason why I have this opportunity to continue playing.

The Wolves compete in Watertown, New York and are a member of the Federal Hockey League, a seven-team professional league. Watertown is currently in second place in the league with 77 points. The FHL has seen plenty of its players go on to play in higher leagues, such as the ECHL or the AHL.

"We are extremely proud of Justin for signing with the Watertown Wolves," head coach Jasen Wise said. "He has worked extremely hard to achieve his goals and has faced a lot of adversity during his journey. It is a great example of what you can accomplish through grit, determination, and hard work. This is a great opportunity for him and we are excited to watch him play."

Coachman, who skated in 14 games for the Falcons this past season, signed a professional tryout contract with the Wolves. He posted a +10 plus/minus rating this season, helping lead the Falcons to a program-best 16 wins.

Coachman and the Wolves will be in action tonight against the Danville Dashers at 7:30 p.m. eastern time.
