Falcons Outdueled by Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin men's hockey team fell 4-0 to the Marian Sabres on Saturday in the second leg of a back-to-back, having won Friday's contest in an overtime thriller.

Adam Nobes opened the game's scoring, netting a goal in the final four minutes of the first period. Jordan Simoneau picked up another late-period goal for the Sabres in the second frame, putting Marian ahead at the 18:55 mark.

The Falcons' penalty kill nullified the Sabres' lone power play of the game in the second period, preventing a shot on goal throughout the two minutes. Over both games against Marian, Concordia's kill boasted a 4-5 line.

Nobes notched his second tally of the game with just over eight minutes to go, and Cole Carlson iced the game with an empty-net goal in the final minute of the contest.

Sophomore Dain Sardelli (Hebron, N.D.) led Falcons skaters with four shots during the outing. Freshman Riley Klugerman (Aurora, Ont.) owned the team's best percentage from the faceoff dot, winning five of his eight draws.

Sophomore netminder Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) recorded 30 saves for Concordia, marking his 13th game of the season with 30 or more stops.

The Falcons will return to the ice for a weekend series against the 12-9-2 MSOE Raiders, beginning on February 9.
