Pilet one of 11 nominations for the Hockey Humanitarian Award

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Jared Pilet, a senior defenseman on the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team, was announced as one of 11 nominees for the 2018 Hockey Humanitarian Award, the Foundation announced Tuesday.

Pilet (Seattle, Wash.) was nominated due to his significant contributions not only to his team but also to the community through leadership in volunteerism. Pilet, the Falcons captain, has volunteered in many areas, including as a tutor and in a church youth group. Pilet and his teammates have also served the community in many ways during his career with the Falcons.

The Hockey Humanitarian Award is awarded to college hockey's finest citizen. The award dates back to 1996 and Pilet is the Falcons second nomination, joining Eli Riddle in 2016. The nominees consist of men and women across the country from NCAA Divisions I-III.

The Hockey Humanitarian Award will announce its finalists in February and the 2018 recipient will be honored in a ceremony on Friday, April 6, as part of Frozen Four weekend in St. Paul, Minn.

Pilet is a Biomedical Sciences major with a minor in Chemistry and is scheduled to graduate this spring. He is a two-time NCHA All-Academic selection.
