MARIT POSTGAME

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the game tied 1-1 after two periods of play, the Falcons turned it on with four goals in the final period. Jake Switzer (Swansea, Ill.) started the scoring 3:58 into the final stanza on an unassisted score from the blue line, making the score 2-1 in favor of the Falcons.

- Josh Adkins (Victoria, British Columbia) scored the game-winning goal, which at the time put the Falcons up 3-1 8:20 into the third period. Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alberta) found Adkins with a cross-ice pass and Adkins buried his shot from the left faceoff circle for a two-goal Falcons lead.

- Lake Forest scored to make the score 3-2 on a Bron Loiselle goal 10:43 into the period. Just 2:04 later the Falcon went back up two goals on a one-timer off the stick of Dante Hahn (Victoria, British Columbia). Hahn started the odd man rush and dished it off to Jim Pearson (Ashton, Ontario), who got it right back to Hahn for the 4-2 lead.

- Nick Guerra (Victoria, British Columbia) capped off the wild third period with an empty net score with 2:07 left on the clock. Nick Guiney (Victoria, British Columbia), who had the Falcons first goal of the game, and Taylor Gauld (Whitby, Ontario) assisted on the empty-net score.

- Nick Malvin (Ham Lake, Minn.) was impressive once again for the Falcons, registering 33 saves, including 16 in the opening period. Malvin also picked up an assist on Saturday, sending a long pass to Guiney in the second period for the breakaway goal.

- Louis-Phillipe De Courcy made 25 saves for the Foresters. The Falcons finished the game with an advantage on special teams, going 1-for-4 on the power play compared to 0-for-5 by the Foresters. CUW killed off four of those penalties in the opening period, including an extended 5-on-3.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Malvin became the first CUW goaltender to reach double-digit wins in a single season, picking up his 10th win. He was tied with Jack Romanuik for most wins in a season entering Saturday's game. Romanuik won nine games last year.

- The Falcons tied the program record for most wins in a season with their 13th. CUW also won 13 games last season.
