Malvin named NCHA Defensive Player of the Week

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey goaltender Nick Malvin has been named the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Malvin (Ham Lake, Minn.) made 70 combined saves in the Falcons sweep over MSOE, helping his team secure the Lake Michigan Cup. He stopped 37 shots in Friday's win and added 33 saves in Saturday's home victory. For the week, Malvin posted a .946 save percentage.

The weekly award is the second of the season for Malvin and third of his career. His two wins over the weekend gave him 12 for the year, adding to his single-season program record.

Malvin and the Falcons will be back in action this weekend with a pair of NCHA road contests to close the regular season. CUW needs one point to clinch a home series in the Harris Cup Playoffs. This weekend begins at Trine on Friday night.
