No. 3 Adrian Takes Harris Cup Quarterfinals Game One

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's hockey team opened the Northern College Hockey Association Harris Cup Quarterfinals on Friday afternoon. The third-ranked Bulldogs showed why they cruised to the NCHA Regular Season title with the 10-2 victory. With today's results, Concordia Wisconsin moves to 8-18 and Adrian goes to 20-5-1.

The Bulldogs held a 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of the contest.

The Black and Gold then added three more goals in the first six minutes of the second period.

Sophomore Grant Newcomer (McFarland, Wis.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard after he stole the puck and snuck the puck past the keeper.

The Bulldogs struck first in the third period. The Falcons responded with a goal from junior Zach Brydges (Woodbury, Minn.) on a rebound off a shot from sophomore Dain Sardelli (Hebron, N.D.) and a secondary assist to freshman Matt Koepke (Vernon Hills, Ill.).

Adrian finished with the final two goals of the game.

Sophomore Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) had 14 saves in the start. Senior Liam McGarva (Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta) posted nine saves.

The Bulldogs finished with a 33-21 advantage in shots. Zach Brydges had four shots on goal to lead the Falcons.

The Falcons look to level the series on Saturday afternoon. If the Falcons pick up the win on Saturday, the two teams will play a mini-game to determine who will advance to the NCHA Harris Cup Semifinals.
