Ricki Budewitz Named Female Athlete of the Year
MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Department of Athletics has announced Ricki Budewitz of the women's tennis program as the 2023-24 Female Athlete of the Year Award recipient.
A senior from Watertown, Wisconsin, Ricki Budewitz wrapped up one of the most storied careers in Concordia Wisconsin history.
Budewitz broke the program record for singles wins in a single season with a 26-4 record. She also broke the school record for doubles victories in a season with her 27-3 record.
She reached new heights in the fall as she became the first Falcon to reach the ITA Regional Semifinals.
She finished her career as the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference and school's winningest player with 78 singles victories and 92 doubles victories for 170 total victories.
This year, she was voted as the NACC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Year, going along with her All-Conference selections for singles and doubles play.
Nationally, she was voted as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Most Improved Senior and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Second Team selection.
