Women's Tennis Splits Saturday Play
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team had a double dip of action on Saturday at North Central. The Falcons fell in the first round of the day against the Cardinals, 2-7. The Falcons bounced back to finish the day with a 7-2 victory over Greenville. The Falcons are now 16-5 on the year.
The Falcons started the day with a victory at No. 1 doubles. The senior duo of Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Cardinals.
Ricki Budewitz rallied to pick up a victory on court one. She picked up a 2-6, 7-5, 10-5 victory for the lone singles point.
Senior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) and Ashley Samuta both went to a third-set tiebreaker but were edged, 11-9 and 10-8 respectively.
The Falcons opened the second match with a commanding sweep in doubles play.
Senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) and junior Mya Werning (Watertown, Wis.) picked up an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Mallory Moen and junior Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill.) secured an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Ashley Samuta and Ricki Budewitz edged the Panthers, 8-7 at No. 1 doubles.
Ricki Budewitz swept Irlanda Oliver at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Ashley Samuta sank Addison Brannon at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
At No. 5 singles, Peyton Morgan mowed down Emily Buratovich, 6-2, 6-3.
Mya Werning rallied on court six with a 5-7, 6-2, 10-8 victory over Natalia Higashi.
The Falcons return home on April 7 when they host Luther.
