Women's Tennis Takes Down Concordia Chicago

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team continued its winning ways on Wednesday evening at Concordia Chicago. The Falcons picked up another 9-0 victory to improve to 5-0 on the year and 4-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

The team of junior Mya Werning (Watertown, Wis.) and freshman Sofia Buhr (Blumenau, Brazil) swept CUC at No. 2 doubles, 8-0.

Senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and senior Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) secured an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Senior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) and junior Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill.) mowed down the Cougars on court three with an 8-1 victory.  

Mallory Moen did not lose a point to Jessica Parker with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.

AT No. 1 singles, Ricki Budewitz beat Ali Wingood, 6-0, 6-1.

Ashley Samuta shot down Tatiana Overton at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Mya Werning wore down Amira Shakir at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Peyton Morgan mopped up Kamila Giza at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0.  

Sofia Bahr bounced Mia Engelman at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1.

The victory sets up the battle for the top two teams in the NACC Preseason Poll on Saturday morning. The Falcons were projected to finish in first place with 197 points and 17 first-place votes. Edgewood secured three first-place votes and 176 points.
