A Historic Saturday at ITA Regionals
WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team is not done at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships. The Falcons had three individuals compete on Saturday and will have one compete on Sunday.
Senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) opened the day with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over No. 20 Abby Ostermann of Luther. She then rallied to upset No. 4 Allison Szalay of Gustavus, 0-6, 7-6 (4), 10-7. She will face Michaella Sullivan of Bethel in the quarterfinal round on Sunday morning.
The duo of Senior Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Ricki Budewitz fell in the round of 16 on Saturday to No. 3 seeded Gustavus, 8-6.
At the Midwest Invite, senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) fell to the eventual D Bracket champion in the semifinals in Lot van den Broek of Luther, 6-4, 6-2.
