Women's Tennis Secures a Spotless Saturday

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team protected the nest on Saturday with a pair of 9-0 sweeps over Illinois Tech and Marian. The Saturday sweep session sends Concordia to 4-0 on the year and 3-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

The afternoon started with senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and senior Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) sweeping the Scarlet Hawks at No. 1 doubles, 8-0.

Junior Mya Werning (Watertown, Wis.) and freshman Sofia Buhr (Blumenau, Brazil) picked up an 8-2 victory on court three.

At No. 2 doubles, senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) and senior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) knocked out Illinois Tech, 8-3.

Mia Andrae brought out the broom at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Smrithi Shreedhar.

Sophia Buhr also did not allow Paige Geiger onto the scoreboard on court three in the 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Ricki Budewitz brushed away Hannah Markiewicz at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Mallory Moen mowed down Carlotta Canovas at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0.

Ashley Samuta sank Sofia Martinez at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Junior Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill.) downed Ashley Dame at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2.

The Falcons then turned their sights onto the Sabres later in the afternoon.

The team of Buhr and Werning swept away Marian at No. 3 doubles, 8-0.

The stellar duo of Ashley Samuta and Ricki Budewitz cruised to an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Mia Andrae and Mallory Moen put Marian away at No. 2 doubles, 8-2.

Peyton Morgan made quick work of Madeline Chimenti at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Sofia Buhr went 6-0, 6-0 over Kendall Pliner at No. 3 singles.

Mallory Moen moved past Melana Brunton at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Ricki Budewitz blasted Aeryn Olson at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Mia Andrae mopped up Hazel Duchemin at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-2.

Ashley Samuta sliced up Abby Okon at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-3.

The Falcons look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday at Concordia Chicago.
