Women's Soccer Wins at Rockford
ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's soccer team took care of business on a business trip to Rockford on Sunday evening with a 2-0 victory. The Falcons stay on top of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference standings with 12 points at 4-0-0. The victory also elevates Concordia to 6-3-0. The Regents fall to 3-6-1 and 0-4-0 in the NACC.
The first look of the evening came in the ninth minute when senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) showed her speed to break past the defense and found junior Autumn Snow (Cedarburg, Wis.) for a turbulent trip inside of the box.
Three minutes later, senior Sheridan Dorge (Winnipeg, Manitoba) rang the ball off the crossbar on a sharp-angled shot.
In the 23rd minute, senior Bella Rapp (Grafton, Wis.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard off a free kick from 25 yards out as she curved the ball past the four-Regent wall.
Bell Rapp ripped through the Rockford defense again and blasted another shot at the goalie 21 seconds later.
The Falcons had some excellent looks to end the first half on Sunday and closed the half with freshman Hailey Whittow (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) getting the ball past the goalie and bouncing off the far post.
The first look of the second half came off the boot of Sheridan Dorge with a shot that missed just high.
In the 56th minute, a shot from Bella Rapp caused a corner. Rapp threatened again with another shot that was saved in the 69th minute.
Freshman Isabella Wentorf (Racine, Wis.) added an insurance goal in the 77th minute.
Hailey Whittow had a pair of shots late to keep the Regents on their toes.
Senior Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) collected two saves in the victory.
The Falcons held a 22-5 advantage in shots on Sunday. The Blue and White also boasted a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal. Bella Rapp led the contest with four shots on goal.
Concordia posted a 6-0 advantage in corners on Sunday.
The Falcons look to extend their win streak on Wednesday against the Green Knights of St. Norbert.
