Women’s Hockey lands 10 NCHA All-Academic selections

MEQUON, Wis. - The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association announced its All-Academic selections on Thursday morning. The Concordia Wisconsin women's hockey team landed 10 selections for the 2019-20 season.   

"We are really proud of the work that they have put into their academics," said head coach Steve Fabiilli. "These 10 have worked very hard in the classroom and on the ice. They characterize what it means to be a student-athlete." 

In order to qualify for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must be of at least sophomore status academically and have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher.  

The senior duo of Issy Bilton (Burlington, Ont.) and senior Breanna Thomson (St. Marys, Ont.) earned the honor for the third-straight season. The two Falcons are two of 13 student-athletes to claim the honor on the women's side.  

Making an appearance on the NCHA All-Academic Team for a second time is junior Madi Chapman (Rogers, Minn.), junior Ally Hull (Wasilla, Alaska), junior Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.) 

Making their first appearance on the team is senior Emily Godwin (London, Ont.), sophomore Kaytlin Johnson (Black River Falls, Wis.), junior Shea Petersen (Rhinelander, Wis.), sophomore Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) and sophomore Sarah Tretina (Plainfield, Ill.).  

The 10 selections are the third-most of any program in the NCHA.

The Falcons will play in the Slaats Cup Playoffs this weekend at Lake Forest. The first of the two-game series is set for Friday at 7 p.m.
