Women’s Hockey moves past Marian

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons earned another key victory in the NCHA with a 2-1 victory over Marian on Friday night. The Blue and White improve to 2-1 in the NCHA with the victory.

The two teams did not allow a goal in the first 20 minutes.

Sophomore Kaytlin Johnson (Black River Falls, Wis.) broke the tie at the 1:54 mark of the second period off a pass from senior Issy Bilton (Burlington, Ont.).

Sophomore Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) scored the game-winning goal on a scrum in front of the net.

The Sabres scored late in the second period on the power play.

Freshman Annalina Van Hercke (Castle Rock, Colo.) kept the Sabres off the scoreboard in the third period to secure her first collegiate victory.

The Falcons held a 47-21 advantage in shots on Friday. Natasha Wanless led CUW with five shots.

The Blue and White also bested the Sabres at the draw and won 37 of the 60 faceoffs. Wanless won 16 faceoffs in the victory.

Van Hercke secured 20 saves in the victory.

The Falcons will go for the sweep on Saturday.
