Falcons Gashed by Gulls

BEVERLY, Mass. – The CUW men's volleyball team finished up their Spring Break trip out East with a matchup against Endicott College.

The Gulls took the first set with a final score of 25-23. The Falcons kept it neck and neck while also fighting off three set-points until the Gulls were able to take it on a service error.

The Falcons went on an early four-point run in the second set to take a 10-6 lead. The Gulls stormed back with a 6-1 run later in the set to take the 16-13 advantage over the Falcons. Endicott edged out the Falcons in the latter moments of the set and took the 25-22 set victory.

In a win-or-go-home set, the Falcons didn't back down and took the first three points with a kill from both senior James Althoff (Kenosha, Wis.) as well as sophomore Spencer Herman (Appleton, Wis.). The Gulls pulled ahead with a five-point run in the middle of the set, but that didn't scare the blue and white. The Falcons took the 26-24 victory in set three with freshman Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) feeding Herman for the final kill of the set.

The Gulls came out hot in the fourth set with a 12-6 lead early and held on the rest of the way.

The Falcons fell in the fourth set by a score of 17-25.

Both Herman and Althoff led the Falcon offense with 13 kills. Herman added 12 digs for the double-double.

The Falcons head back North and face Lakeland inside the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse on Wednesday.
