Falcons Wipe Wolves in Comeback Victory

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's volleyball team hosted the Cardinal Stritch Wolves in an exhibition matchup on Friday night.

The Falcons came out hot and took the first set with a commanding 25-13 victory. This set saw the Falcons hit .263 with 10 kills in 19 attempts. 

Senior James Althoff (Kenosha, Wis.) and sophomore Spencer Herman (Kimberly, Wis.) led the Flock with four kills each. Freshman Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) recorded 10 assists. The Falcons also posted an insane seven service aces in the first set.

The Falcons lost a close one in the second set with the Wolves taking the set 25-20. The Falcons added two assist blocks in the second set as well as five kills and two assists.

The third set also went to the Wolves with a 25-21 victory. The set saw the Falcons record two aces and seven assists on their nine kills. 

Herman came out of the set leading the Falcons with six kills and 8.5 total points.

The Falcons mounted a comeback inside the R. John Buuck fieldhouse winning the last two sets with scores of 25-18 and 15-10 giving them the 3-2 match victory.

The Falcons ended the night hitting .224 with 42 kills on 98 swings. They added 12 aces, 35 digs, and 9.5 blocks. The Falcons were led in scoring by Herman with 17 total points. Herman hit .458 with 13 kills and two service aces as well as three digs and four assist blocks. Althoff finished behind him with 13.0 total points with 10 kills, two service aces, and eight digs. Kebisek finished the night with 30 assists.

Freshman Lucas Beres (Germantown, Wis.) led the Falcons in blocks with five block assists and one solo block.

The Falcons turn their attention to the first match of the regular season when Loras comes to town on Jan. 21.
