Falcons Ram Rockford in NACC Home Opener

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons opened their home portion of the NACC schedule with a matchup against the Regents of Rockford on Wednesday night.

The Falcons came out hot with a six-point run in the first set that was capped by an ace from senior Turner Fuhrer (Kenosha, Wis.). The Falcons held a steady lead the rest of the first set with a 9-4 run to end the set at 25-13.  

The Regents took a quick lead in the second set at 4-2 then 7-5 later. That was cut away after a pair of kills from sophomore Spencer Herman (Appleton, Wis.) and one from freshman Kellen Gonzales (Waukesha, Wis.) to pull ahead 10-7.

A timeout from Rockford resulted in a Regents point, but the Falcons came back with six straight points to push the lead out even further at 16-8. Gonzalez recorded one and a half blocks in this sequence.

The Falcons finished the set out on a kill from Herman to put a cap on the second at 25-16.

With a win or go home set, the Regents came out hot once again holding the Falcons to an even clip at 10.  

The Falcons spit off five points with two aces from Fuhrer and a kill from senior James Althoff (Kenosha, Wis.) to hop out to a 15-10 lead.

The Regents worked to push back but fell victim to a 10-8 run from the Falcons to end the match with a set three score of 25-18.

The Falcons were led by Herman with 12 kills hitting .409 on 22 swings. He added one ace, seven digs, and two total blocks to his line.

Freshman Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) ended the match with 26 assists and three digs.

Althoff put together a solid night for the flock hitting .526 on 19 swings with 11 kills. He also added eight digs and a block assist to his line for a total of 11.5 points.

The Falcons turn their attention to the third-ranked Dominican team for a road trip on Friday.
