Falcons Lace Lions

BOSTON, Ma. – The CUW men's volleyball team continued their Spring Break trip to Boston with a matchup at Emerson.

The Lions came out hot in the first set with a late four-point run to seal the set 18-25.

It was all Falcons the rest of the way with three-straight set wins of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-11.

The Falcons and Lions battled back and forth through the second set with freshman Lucas Beres (Cedarburg, Wis.) and Kellen Gonzales (Waukesha, Wis.) putting the ball on the floor late to lift the Falcons past the Lions in the second set.

The Falcons hopped out to a quick 11-5 lead in the third set, but the Lions mounted a comeback with a 6-3 run heading late in the set. Sophomore Spencer Herman (Appleton, Wis.) put up a pair of clutch kills, and Gonzales sealed the deal late with a kill to pull the third set in favor of the flock.

The blue and white got hot quick in the fourth set with a 16-6 run off the bat to push the Lions into the hole. They finished the match on an 8-1 run to seal the deal in Boston.

Herman and senior James Althoff (Kenosha, Wis.) led the Falcon offense with 18 and 12 kills respectively. Althoff added 11 digs for a double-double as well as four aces. He became the NACC's all-time leader in kills in the match, surpassing Ethan Klosak of Dominican.

Beres came up big for the Falcon net defense with two solo blocks and five assist blocks to push the Falcons past Emerson.

Freshman Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) dished out 49 assists in the four sets and added five digs.

The Falcons take a day off on Wednesday and prepare for a solid MIT squad on Thursday.
