Madson to lead Badger Region High Performance Team

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin Men's Volleyball head coach Curtis Madson was named the head coach of the Badger Region High Performance Boys' National Youth team. The team will be competing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from July 24-28 in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships and is comprised of high school athletes born in 2001 and after, who are members of the Badger Region Volleyball Association.

Madson is in his second year with the Badger Region High Performance program, as last season he was an assistant with the team that competed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and took 13th in the country.

"I really enjoyed the opportunity to work on last year's staff and get a chance to work with some of Wisconsin's top volleyball talent," Madson expressed. "To be in the gym and work with such high achieving athletes and help to give them a taste of what next level volleyball is like, is a great honor. It was fun to see our guys compete against not only some top teams from our country, but we had the opportunity to play teams from around the world as well. This year I am excited to head up the team and work with this amazing group of young men and represent the Badger Region. I feel we have comprised a solid staff and group of men to take to Tulsa and compete."

Madson is being assisted in 2018 by Tyler Frings (Marian University), LJ Marx (Carthage College) and Brian Sharkey (Badger Region staff). Four members of the CUW Falcons team are former members of the Badger Region High Performance Program: Sam Rovik (Wilmot), Blake Schwandt (Kenosha Indian Trail) and class of 2018 commitments Connor Muff (Westosha Central) and James Althoff (Kenosha Tremper).

The Badger Region Boys' High Performance program is an avenue for the region's premier players to receive training and competition opportunities from some of the top coaches in Badger Region. The program is the regional chapter of the USA Volleyball's High Performance program. As a part of the High Performance pipeline, the program follows international age definitions and program offerings each year. There are three stages of the Badger Region Boys' High Performance program: tryouts, training team/camp and championship team.

The team is partially subsidized by monies allocated by the Badger Region Board of Directors.
