Foundation set for future of Men’s Volleyball program

KENOSHA, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin played well at times on Friday evening, especially in the second set, against No. 14 Maymount (VA) in a non-conference match. The result didn't go in its favor, dropping a three-set decision (25-10, 26-24, 25-14), but the experience gained in the first-ever match in program history will go a long way for future success.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After weeks of practice and preparation, Concordia Wisconsin was ready to begin its inaugural season against a difficult opponent. Many firsts were recorded in the archives and the Falcons nearly took a set from a nationally-ranked opponent.
- No. 14 Marymount (VA) was stronger offensively, posting a .269 attack percentage and serving six aces. On the other side of the net, Concordia Wisconsin showed its strong defensive effort at the net with 6.0 total team blocks.
- Following a first set loss, the Falcons responded nicely by owning a 22-21 lead late in the second frame which forced a Marymount (VA) timeout. Following the game planning, Concordia Wisconsin capitalized on a Saints attacking error to own a two-point advantage. Things then turned, as Marymount (VA) scored five of the next six points to earn a difficult 26-24 set win.

- It was a historic night for the program and the following was recorded: first kill (Sam Rovik), first assist (Will Driver), first dig (Isaac Glynn), first service ace (Zach Smith), first block (Isaac Glynn and Blake Schwandt), first solo block (Sam Rovik).
