Men’s Volleyball falls to No. 4 Kean

MEQUON, Wis. – In a non-conference matchup, No. 4 Kean outdueled Concordia Wisconsin in straight sets inside the R. John Buuck Field House. A strong early showing from the Cougars proved too much for the Falcons to overcome, as they won 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-15) and despite the unfavorable end result, there were noticeable improvements throughout.

QUOTING HEAD COACH CURTIS MADSON

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin hit a season-high .122 in the contest and a trio of players recorded at least four kills.
- After a rough 25-11 first set that did not see much fall in the Falcons' favor, scores of 25-17 and 25-15 in sets two and three were much more competitive than the score may indicate. After falling down 3-1 to start the second frame, a particularly strong stretch of play saw Concordia Wisconsin get within two at 11-9 midway through. They continued that high level of play to an 18-14 score before the nationally ranked Cougars took over late.
- Similarly, in the third, the Falcons played extremely well to the midway point of the set. After starting down 4-0, they rallied to see the score at 18-13 behind some strong play in the middle from freshman Blake Schwandt (Kenosha, Wis.) and all-around contributions from freshman Sam Rovik (Silver Lake, Wis.). Once again though, the Cougars rallied to finish out the match in three sets.
- Led by Rovik's seven kills, the Falcons notched 19 kills including six from freshman Will Driver (Mokena, Ill.) and four from Schwandt. Freshman Matthew Korman (Roscoe, Ill.) paced the team with 15 assists.
- The Falcons saw themselves get out-hit in the contest by the Cougars .122 to .365. It was a very balanced Kean attack with five players tallying five-plus kills.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons will travel to Olivet for a Thursday match at 5 pm.
